[*] in 1906, a touring side ("Springboks") representing the South African
Football Association, considered the country's national side, toured
South America, playing a variety of club teams as well as league XIs
and a side called "Argentinos" which consisted of the best Argentine
players from the local league; it is an unofficial match for Argentina
but was considered an "official" "Test match" by the tourists; on 15
July the "Springboks" played against a multinational selection from
the Argentine League called "Liga Argentina" and won 4-1, with Henman
scoring the first goal for the tourists; this match is often counted
as an international match for South Africa instead of the match on
9 July but from the Argentine point of view, the first of these two
matches involved a much more 'national' side; counting the match on
15 July also begs the question why the match against the Liga Uruguaya
in Montevideoa few days later, which South Africa won 6-1, is not
counted.
