Oldest and Youngest Players and Goal-scorers in International Football

There follow lists of the oldest and youngest players and goal-scorers in international football history (i.e. matches between national teams), based on information known to the authors at the time of writing. These lists are very likely to be incomplete, particularly the women's lists, due to the lamentable unavailability of sufficiently detailed and accurate historical information for many countries.

Additions or corrections are welcomed by the authors (nfm24(AT)cantab.net) - any potential additional cases should preferably be evidenced.

+ On 28-Nov-2012 Bára Skaale Klakstein (aged 39) and her daughter Eydvør Klakstein (aged 17) played together
for their country in a match vs Luxembourg; this is believed to be an unique case in international football history.
In men's football, an analogous case almost occurred on 24-Apr-1996 when Iceland's Arnór Guðjohnsen (aged 34) was
substituted by his son Eiður Smári Guðjohnsen (aged 17) in a match vs Estonia; however, the two men never played
together simultaneously on the field for their national team.
    ++ Thornborough was aged between 39y 203d and 41y 201d.
^ Rolls probably holds the all-time record for the longest wait between successive caps. When she played
on 1-Mar-2012 (0-0 vs South Africa), it was her first international match since 7-Nov-1996 (1-1 vs
Papua New Guinea). In the intervening 15-year hiatus, she played over 100 cricket matches for her country.

    Unconfirmed last appearance:
       Svetlana Novikova Belarus 40-41y 20-Oct-1970 2008-2012^^

^^ Novikova was a member of the national squad in 2012, but it is unclear when she last played in an official match.

     * The Korea F.A. regards this match as a full international vs Taiwan (meaning the Republic of China), but the
opposition was actually a Combined Chinese selection in Hong Kong - however, the Chinese Taipei F.A. now counts
the match as an international also. One day earlier, Kim played (and scored) for South Korea in a 6-3 win vs
All-Hong Kong (H.K.F.A.) and that match is also regarded by the Korea F.A. as a full international.
** Some sources report that Maiani scored an own-goal in this match (though other sources attribute the goal to
James Grimes of Canada). The match is a full international for San Marino but not for Canada.
