Below you find a regionwise analysis of the Argentine league - which regions provided how many teams to the league, and titles won per region.


Information is prepared as follows:

  Name of the region ("Provincia" or "Capital Federal") in Spanish (official
  language). 

  Population (census 2001).

  Capital.

  Regional totals of presences in First Level and League champions.

  For all clubs: in the first column, seasons played by each club in First Level
  from 1893 to 2001/2002.
  In brackets, Argentine League championships won by the club from 1893 to
  2001/2002.

  At the bottom of the page, statistical tables by regions.

  Notes:

  There were 2 champions in the following seasons:
  1912   - 1914
  1919   - 1926
  1931   - 1934
  1967   - 1984
  1991/2 - 2001/2

  Several teams were moved between the regions "Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires"
 and "Provincia de Buenos Aires". They are indicated by [moved].
 
  If a club had its field in one region and its Secretary's Office in other one,
 the field is used to define the region.

  Information included amateur (1893 - 1934) and professional (1931 - 2001/2) 
eras.

  Tournaments between first and second levels to define promotions and relegations 
were not included.
