The matches 5 to 15 above constitute a series of 11 consecutive wins.

NB: Only matches are counted which were considered full internationals by both
sides; therefore the match in the Olympic Games of 1952 against Turkey
cannot be included, as Turkey do not consider it official; Italy also sent
an amateur team, but recognise the match on July 21 as a full international
match. Some sources (e.g. the Hungarian Sportmuseum) also include a
match on 18- 5-1952 against East Germany which Hungary won 5-0, but that is
not an official international for East Germany (who played their first ever
international match on 21- 9-1952 away to Poland).

After the loss in the 1954 World Cup Final, Hungary immediately set off
with another series of 18 matches without defeat, so in total they suffered
only 1 loss in a series of 49 matches. That second series:

  1. 19- 9-1954 Budapest Romania 5-1
  2. 26- 9-1954 Moskva Soviet Union 1-1
