Java Trip of Duke of Wellington's Regiment 1926

The Duke of Wellington's Regiment were the strongest team in Singapore, winning the local league in 1926 (clinching the title on 21 August, just before their trip to Java), 1927 and 1928. They were invited by Soerabaja club T.H.O.R. on the occasion of its silver jubilee. After playing three matches in Soerabaja as part of the T.H.O.R. celebrations, they played one match in Bandoeng and two in Batavia on their way back home. They had been expected to arrive on the afternoon of 29 August but their ship, SS "De Weerdt", was delayed and they could only disembark on the morning of 30 August, the day of their first match.
