Java Tour of Kansai University 1932

The Kansai University Football Society, described as one of the three strongest teams in Ōsaka, were the first Japanese team to visit Java. The side had reached the semifinals of the Emperor's Cup (then the main football tournament in Japan) in 1927 and would do so again in 1935. Reportedly, they had only lost 2-3 to Shanghai visitors Loh Hwa in 1930, but they turned out to be the weakest touring side ever; H.B.S. fielded their reserve side (strengthened with four first team players) in the second match, and the Soerabaja FA representation in the third match was composed almost exclusively of players from the second local division. Bep Bakhuys played two matches against the student side, for both T.H.O.R. (as back) and B.P.M. (Bataafsche Petroleum Maatschappij).
