Notes: On 18th April 2019 the Scottish Football Association confirmed that Alexander McLeish left his role as Scotland manager by mutual consent with immediate effect. The decision was agreed collectively by the Board at its scheduled meeting in consultation with him. He paid the price for a poor start to Euro 2020 qualifying as the defeat in Kazakhstan came against a side ranked 117th in the world, and an unconvincing 2-0 win over the world's lowest-ranked team, San Marino. On Monday, 20 May 2019 the Scottish FA announced the appointment of Stephen (Steve) Clarke as Scotland national team head coach. He signed a three-year contract until the end of the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign. During his international career Clarke gained six caps for Scotland between 1987-1994.
