    until the 1940s Georgetown FC (founded 1902) was the "premier football team in Guyana".
    in 1971 Thomas United were the first club from Guyana to enter the CONCACAF Champions Cup;
      it is not known whether they qualified as national champions or as champions of Georgetown
      (or otherwise).
